Miller Club Race

Hey - Registration is open for Miller (or whatever their calling it today). I was there previously and it's a great, fun track. I hope to see some other GGR racers out there in Sept.

Thunderhill in March

I've registered but have a few questions that are not addressed anywhere I've looked: 3 mile or 5 mile track configuration? (FWIW: I'd prefer the 3 mile, over the top) Test day Friday (DE)? Also, at ClubRegistration.net the West Coast series info is for 2014. Is there a new link you can add for the ...

2011 Schedule?

Any idea when the tentative or final 2011 track schedule will be available?

Re: Brake Fluid

Old brake fluid can turn into a white creamy mess which can clog the lines. I've always wanted to get my hands on some to do a water content measurement as I think it comes from just too much water getting into the fluid. It has nothing to do with "dissolving" the calipers or anything else. The wate...

Re: TH #4, another great GGR weekend at the track

Dan (and Warren & Mike): I enjoyed the PCA races (I've done 2) and want to help provide some support to the group that I started with. However, look at it from another perspective... Why should PRC racers come race with PCA? Other than racing is fun? PCA is more expensive and does not provide the ve...

Re: TH #4, another great GGR weekend at the track

Dan: Most of the folk I've seen racing with GGR/PRC are PRC racers. I'd say we are and have been doing a lot to support PCA as we added some of the PCA events into our schedule (we added the Rose Cup races in Portland too). Most of us would like to see PCA succeed in bringing some races back to the ...

Mike: Does that translate to configuration #1 in the clockwise direction?

Have the "powers-that-be" ;) decided which direction we are going to run and which configuration will be used at Buttonwillow? Inquiring minds would like to know...

Re: Adopt current PCA club racing GT classes

Ok, I'm confused then. By PCA club race rules, my car is GT-3R (using the HP/weight calculation). Last year GGR listed me as GT-2R (using the old engine size rules) and the "car class calculator". I recall a post from Dave Leong or someone saying that GGR was not adopting the new PCA GT classificati...

Re: I'm registered; who's next?

I'm now registered. Paperwork for the license sent in with the new physical (grumble).

What are you going to do for instructors who race? Will we be able to take students out for rides in the red group without paying to attend the DE too?

Adopt current PCA club racing GT classes

Rather than keep the pre-2008 PCA GT classification, I propose that if you end up with too many points, you class your car via the PCA club racing GT classification scheme. (Write the rule so it refers to the current version of the PCA GT classification scheme.) Rationale: PCA club racing scrapped t...

New TT Class

I would like to see a new class added for time trials. The class is GTL with rules per the PRC-GTL class. Rationale: PRC's GTL class is becoming more popular and most of us attend a TT or two during the year. Rather than go by PCA GT classes, I'd like the ability for us to run as the class our cars ...

Re: Performance Software

Paul: Your concern is well founded but the reality is that gains of 40 hp in a normally aspirated car are not usually achievable no matter what the folk selling it claim. I spent thousands looking for 20 hp in my 964 via chip changes - it just isn't there without other changes to the air intake and ...

Re: TH: Faster or Slower after repaving?

It ended up a mixed bag for me. I had 2 run sessions alone in the car and the TT - and my best in these sessions was a 2:00. With a student in the car for coaching Sunday morning, I ran a 1:58.2 (and that's a significant weight penalty in my car). While my previous best from earlier this year was a ...

TH: Faster or Slower after repaving?

We'll be one of the first groups to run on the new surface at Thunderhill in August.

Do you think it will be slower (more slippery) or faster?

Since folk like the rules to be specific, I have a problem with g.1. While it allows FIA approved 2" lap belts, it does not appear to allow the 2" to 3" hybrid, FIA approved, HANS specific shoulder belts (it simply requires a 3" soulder belt). Thus my race approved, FIA certified, Schroth Hybrid bel...

Who is going to BW for the next TT? If not, why? While I'd love to be there, I have a prior commitment ... My wife and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary with 2 weeks in Tahiti and Bora Bora. You can also get various flavors of race gas at ERC fuels in San Leandro. It must be dispensed into a container (you can get 30 gallon drums from them). Their best unleaded is called RUL (reasearch unleaded) and has an otane rating of 104.5 using the (R+M)/2 method - the one pump gas uses.
