Re: July GGR Thunderhill Video thread

I'll play: In-car from Sunday. Not my best lap, but of the laps I have both video and data for, it is representative & traffic-free. Data overlay using free racerender software. Laptime 2:08.7... lots of room for improvement.

Re: Rules proposals for the 2012 season

As I mentioned, I'm not really an advocate for this... just want it on the table so it gets a fair hearing. The national PCR's are written mostly for AX, and would probably work fine for that purpose without change. A street-tire class makes less sense for the Time Trial series since most people who...

Re: Rules proposals for the 2012 season

PROPOSAL #3: BTW: I'm not advocating this, but I think it deserves to be proposed early so that we can debate its merits: Classing system for Autocross: Ditch GGR's points system and adopt PCA Natl's AX classes per the Parade Competition Rules (PCRs). Classing system for Timed Runs: Ditch GGR's poin...

Re: TT #1 - 2011 Results

Hi Lar, Final results will be posted probably by end of this weekend. Ordinarily it would be sooner, but we are trying to give folks who didn't know their proper TT class a chance to provide us that info so we can move them out the "fun" class an into their real class for season points. Don't worry,...

Re: Why are 3.2 Carrera's listed at 290 & 320 pts?

Do you have some evidence to support the '87-'89 G50 Carrera having a higher official PCNA "curb weight" than the '84-'86 cars? Like a USA owner's manual? Currently our GGR database shows the same official curb weight of 2,662lbs for all the '84-'89 3.2s. If this is wrong, and you can send me suppor...

Re: Proposed new/updated DE/TT rules for 2011

I believe this change (or words to the same effect) did in fact pass at the DEC meeting last year and simply never made it into the 2010 rule book (my mistake). This should be an easy fix.

Re: Modification Point Clarification

Peter, Sorry for the delay: It has been a while since I checked this forum. I think the fact that you are seeing GT3s in your class is more a function of the fact that your car is significantly improved from stock rather than any shortcoming of the rules. You are running in AX4. Getting a 3.4L 996 t...

Re: 996 alignment

I have the same car/year as yours. Ignore the dealer on this one. You want the car aligned in the condition you normally drive it (if that means half-a-tank, then drop it off with half a tank). That includes your body weight in the driver's seat. Most good P-shops performing a complete alignment wil...

Re: 993 c2s base points vs 992 c2 base points question

Re: AWD. It's not true that we "do nothing for AWD." Each 4wd model is given a distinct base point assignment seperate from its 2wd cousin. So at least it's higher curb weight (and, where applicable, wider wheels) are taken into account. However, if what you meant to say is that there is nothing in ...

Re: 993 c2s base points vs 992 c2 base points question

Pete, The 2010 base points are calculated on a purely mathematical basis using data in GGR's model info database. The formula is in the 2010 rule book (see Appendix G) available online. I just checked the db and it appears we have a factory curb weight for the 993C2S car of 3,064 lbs, which curiousl...

Re: 2010 rules proposals

Hey John, thanks for pointing out the new powerkit checkbox. No problem, I'm always happy to add to your points. I'll be up against a 2010 GT3-RS, registered in TT5. Ah, yes our friend's new toy. I've been wondering about that. I notice he forgot to declare item 63 for his PASM suspension...

Re: 2010 rules proposals

I just want to highlight this post from Paul. It is excellent. Most often, the rules tend to assume someone gets the maximum out of the classified item. Meaning that when you select sway bars, it is assuming the points for something like the Smart Racing or TRG bars. Non-adjustable, but non-stock ba...

Re: 2010 rules proposals

Hey Partha, Glad to hear you are still on the sauce! I really enjoyed our battles last year (at least when your suspension was out of whack). :D Here’s how the wheel points work this year: All cars’ basepoints only include the first 12 inches of wheel-width “free.” Anything more incurs extra points ...
