#4 - Adjustable spring perches. It's almost as if we're saying "two wrongs make a right". I've accepted a majority of the new rules and will happily keep playing in whatever class I end up with, BUT I agree with Bill on this item. It's never really set well with me about the free lowering for the ol...

Air Oil Separator

Jim, I saw the car in the shop this week... that AOS is an issue with the Boxsters too. From what I hear, there's a little 'piston'? that can seize and depending on what position can either blow out the 'bellows' hose and leak oil externally, or cause a pressure build up in the crank case and blow o...

Feeling "Pushy"

I've been trying out a bigger bar up FRONT, because that's all SCCA will allow for suspension mods in AStock. Theoretically, you also need to get less rear 'toe-in' to help with rotation. The offset, by the way, is a gain in transitional speed and maneuverability - but many (AX) courses simply don't...

My only experience was with the older 911. I've had PS2s on the Boxster for AX and felt they needed higher pressure than say the SO3s (I ran the PS2s about 2 lbs higher than other streets I've had) - but when you said the book recommends 44psi rear (cold), I was a little surprised since the max for ...

Was it purely loss of rear wheel grip...

and you went off in the direction you were pointed or did it push at all and you lifted?

Camber Plates...

I'm not sure what description in the points system equates to 'camber plates' and dialing in more camber than a stock car allows. I'm not sure how many points it costs. Can you help?

thanks,

PAX system 2006

I'm not sure I think the PAX numbers are right.... since we now have AX 4 with .993 and AX 5 with .986 - shouldn't there be other opportunities to tie into the tradition - couldn't we fudge AX 8 from .962 into .964, AX 9 from .954 into .959 and AX 10 from .946 to .944?... cause we've also got AX 12 ...

2006 GGR AX School

What a blast. For me, it's a real joy to share this sport with new people or those that want to just try something different. Two of my three students were lucky recipients of a gift from a 'special friend' to attend the school. Thanks to all who prepared, planned, arranged, coordinated and worked t...

Update on mod selection...

It's been a while, but I've decided to take baby steps. I'm going to go with what SCCA will allow and be able to stay "stock" - and that's changing out the front sway bars. I've bought the GT3 front bar with Tarett drop links and the softest setting will be ~40-50% stiffer... up to ~130% at hole #5....

tire wheel combos

Paul, If I recall, many of the top 911 performers used same size sticky tires all around - for balance. I think it is still very popular to use 7x15 and 8x15 with 225/50s all around. The smaller wheel helps in many ways - lowers the car even more, gets better low end gearing impact - tires cost less...

Sway Bar follow-up

Tom - (and others are invited to share), Do you recall what your original and modified bars diameters were? When I think of this, because there are various diameters to go to, I should try and increase the thickness proportionally to the stock bars and then have the adjustments available to balance ...

PSS9s

Thanks Guys.... The evidence both written and spoken is very strongly in favor of PSS9s. I've managed to find them even cheaper via 'shox.com' at $1699. Tom, at least for the Boxster (and probably for the post '89 911s), just getting it lower creates the angles needed to get ~2 degrees of camber up ...

Suspension set ups - beyond stock

Looking for some wisdom in converting a stock Boxster S for an AX only application (maybe someday will include a track day or two). Current Status: Fronts have 245s, Rears 255s on 17s with max front camber at only -.7. I've been able to mitigate much, but not all of the plowing in the slow, tight st...
