AX 1 - Videos

Post by syeo86 » Tue Mar 20, 2018 8:11 am

I really enjoyed watching all the videos posted on the AX8 thread. If you don't mind sharing, please post up your runs!

That is my 6th run, 47.6. Unfortunately my GoPro battery died and didn't catch my fastest.

Nice run and awesome correction in the second slalom! The only question is "Why are you carrying that extra weight?" :P

The course was a hoot and I kept over cooking a few corners. If it was the corner coming out of the first slalmon, I'd carry too much speed for the second slalom. Andrew did a great job designing it, definitely trick me a lot.

The added weight was I think good for a second, that's my excuse anyway. 😀

Did you get any video of yourself Himanshu?

Damn fast runs!

I use a GoPro Hero 3. I think they can be found second hand really cheap now. I think Ovidiu uses the new Garmins. They have some telemetry built in. I think maybe the newest GoPro might too.

I used a Hero 2. I have a Hero3+silver that just died. I just bought a Hero3+black for $40, but I like the remote I have for the Hero2 better. I need to sync it to both cameras. I also have a couple of Ion Air Pro that have much better battery life, cheaper, and much simpler, but no remote. I use these inside where I can reach to turn on/off. Ovidiu's Garmins are very cool, but about $400 each. He uses 3. Check out his setup next time you see him.

DaveD -

Hey hey, looks like your engine rebuild was successful and your 911 is rolling again.
Congrats!
And it seems you are not babying it at all. Dyno break-in I assume?

Did you gain some torque with the rebuild?

Happy happy,

Maraschino is running again. Just picked it up Friday night. No break-in yet, I was taking it easier on most of my runs, went harder on the last run. When the rains stop I'll get some miles on it driving around the reservoirs around my house. Seems to be stronger, more torque. After I get some street miles on I'll replace to old tires with the new ones I bought 9 months ago.

Bought a "refurbished" GoPro 5. Now I need to figure out how to mount it :-)

here is my final best run White 06 Cayman s #5160 in AX07 a 46.204. the previous run was a 46.5 i got some time through the first slalom and went a bit faster into the U turn at the back. it was hard for me to judge the right speed for that U turn add to that it was on the painted concrete and i try not to be aggressive in the paint

AX02 soon :)

this video is with my Roav By Anker, DashCam A1, it turned out ok. $45 on Amazon
i run a GoPro clone on my helmet but that video shows the dash. DB Power ex5000, decent quality for the price $30-50 on ebay and it comes with a lot of accessories.

The suction cup mount that GoPro sells directly is really good. I'd give that a shot if you want to mount it outside your vehicle.
