We lost one of our own

Post by WhuGmiT » Tue Sep 19, 2017 6:39 pm

Got some very sad news last weekend.
Carl Switzer died last week.

I met Carl, and his brother Matt, through the GGR Autocross program.
In fact, in 2009 they are the ones that encouraged me to become the GGR AX Chairman for the 2010-11 seasons. I have been working on the timing and scoring for the club ever since. Carl decided to get more into track driving after 2009 but would still make an appearance at our AX events every so often. Last time I saw Carl was last summer when he showed up to a GGR AX in his GT3. He looked like he was having a great time and told me he planned to come out and AX with us more often.
I'll miss Carl.

I plan on showing my support for Matt and the rest of the family by attending the memorial and gathering this weekend in Pleasanton. I will drive my Porsche, in honor of Carl.

Joe, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Indeed very sad. I hope Matt is dealing with all this ok. Make sure you wax up the Colonel extra shiny and proudly represent PCA!!!
