Upcoming Zone/GGR event Sept 1st-2nd

Post by Ken Jones » Tue Aug 07, 2007 9:42 am

The LPR website in the AX section shows there will be no LPR/GGR Zone event this year due to a scheduling conflict.

Zone/GGR are planning on the two day event. Is everyone on board with that? For GGR class awards, I think this will be a two days for GGR and count as two separate events. For those planning on the typical Sunday only GGR portion, you may want to adjust your schedule to include Saturday.

I'm planning on four weekends in a row at Marina starting this Sunday with SCCA, then LPR, SCCA and then Zone/GGR.

see you there,

kj

I'll be there both days Sept 1 and 2 with my new radial slicks. It will be my first AX using race slicks. Should be lots of fun!

Yes, however it appears you are serious and you have sponsors.

Speaking of rallies I did a hillclimb recently. Fun stuff! Here is a video of a run.

I'll stick a link on our website to your website if ya like, and we'll have an unofficial affiliation! :D

I have some onboard footage from a couple of rallies this year and need to edit them and get them on Youtube!

Hey this is going to be my first auto x, excluding the school you guys had over at candlestick at the beginning of the year. I've been looking forwards to this for awhile, even though i'm probably only going to be able to make it on saturday i'm hoping this will be just as fun as the school was if not more. I'll be in my 944 Turbo, so if you guys have advice for any first timers out there feel free to come say hi and give me some advice! - Steven

San Luis Obispo?... good for you. There should be several experienced 944 drivers there, but also, there'll be many good instructors available to get rides with and get you back "up to speed" after your layoff since the school. We'll get you linked up with somebody at the driver's meeting.

see you there,

kj

Awesome! The only place that does autocrosses around here is the vette club and they dont let people under 18 drive :? so thats one more reason to be in the pca!! (my dad's registered) But yea, my last event was out at buttonwillow, i think the GGR region was sharing it with the central coast guys in march... I'll see you guys out there bright and early on Saturday!

Steven... maybe a red flag here - don't know yet. Are you under 18?

If you attended the AX school, was your father there as well (assuming he is an active member)? I'm not an expert, but I think if you're under 18, a parental waiver/consent form needs to be signed by a parent and a parent must be in attendance while you participate. Please take a look at the menu bar on the left side of the GGR home page to read the conditions that apply to a minor participating in AX.... but, you've probably already figured that out yourself - so, no need for my caveat.

My dad is coming so no worries. Sorry if you guys don't really enjoy "minors" attending the events, but its more driving experience for myself! If i get to drive fast in a safe environment ie. the track/ auto x, than it saves myself from even thinking about going fast on the street. That of course isn't disregarding going for the fastest time of the day in my class 8)
Looking forward for saturday and meeting you guys!

- Steven

And for those wondering, i'm 17..almost 18 and the car was purchased between my twin myself and my dad... 3 way partners

Minors being at our events is not the problem....we welcome 16 and 17 year olds to come to our events with their parent and learn to drive their cars in a proper way in a safe environment.
We are bound by PCA national and must have the correct forms filled out and on file for our insurance. It only takes one goof up and we lose our insurance=no more events. :) :)

Not at all Steven - no issues at all with age... my ramblings were strickly to point out our insurance issues. I ammend my 'minors' expression - how about young adults.... if you promise not to mention 'old farts'.

happy to see you there,

kj

Don't forget, while only one parent needs to be present, BOTH parents need to sign the wavier.

There is also a teen driving clinic sponsored by The Tire Rack. Here in the Bay Area, the BMW club runs it.

The value if these programs, including ours, cannot be stressed enough. For some unlucky souls, their first mistake happens on the street, with dire consequences. These same experiences, in a controlled environment, means you knock over a cone.

My daughter went through our program and my son will follow suit.

Hey you guys, i had a great time out there today, and my brother did as well. Everything was awesome, if the course was streched out a little more for the turbo it would of been nice but you can't have everything. Can't wait for the next event...you'll most likely see me there! - Steven

Also, my brother left his Fox sweatshirt in the timing trailor, or somewhere around there. It's black, Large mens, and brand new... so if anyone finds it please let me know! thanks again.
