Unfortunately, the GGR site has been down all weekend. What is it that the hackers are hacking? Any ideas how to secure the site against them?

Re: What is up with the GGR website?
still down

I don't understand why this keeps happening. Do we not have the proper firewalls in place or spam ware....
I am an admin on another car site and we have very very infrequent problems, and usually get it handled in a matter of hours.
And that site has an international member base...

Re: What is up with the GGR website?
Dan,
As you pointed out earlier, maintaining something like the GGR site is thankless, and I appreciate all the work that goes into it.
That said, it does not reflect well on GGR to have so much trouble with its Web site, residing as it does in the home of the internet, and having as its president a famous Stanford computer science professor. Certainly the Region has more than enough talent among its members to secure our Web site, monitor it, and get it fixed quickly in the event of problems. Though we have had fewer problems with the Classification site and the BBS, these could benefit as well.
Is this issue something the Board should take up?

Re: What is up with the GGR website?
I found out how the hackers were getting in.
I shut down the door and the site has been runnung great
for the last four days.
Sorry for the problems.
Everyone should be happy now!!!
Nobody ever gets mad when things work as expected.
I learned what not to do with this website.

The site just went down and I repaired it. I guess
I am not out of the woods yet.

Re: What is up with the GGR website?
I did some reading on the Drupal site and I found that
I am not alone. Looks like there are Russian Hackers who
work their magic. You can go to their site and learn how to hack.
What they do is run a script program until they can break into
the site. They put some code in, to shut it down. They also
enter code so it goes to porn sites.
The articles talk about upgrading the site. Our site is running on 5.12
and the upgrade is to 5.14. I am real close to the top. They also
recommend changing the passwords. I did that last night and things
are looking good. I will change the passwords again tonight to
something even harder to hack.
I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Also, this is an International site. Check out where we are getting
