I'm 6'0" w/ 2002 986 -- rollbar extensions needed for track?

Post by patrickmueller » Thu Apr 24, 2014 11:37 pm

Subject line says it all.

I've never tracked before, but am hoping to go to the July 12-13 event at Thunderhill.

With my helmet on, there is no way I'd pass the "broomstick test."

Do I need to buy rollbar extensions?

If so, what do you recommend -- the Brey-Krause kit?

Thanks for your help!

Patrick

To meet PCA-GGR requirements you have to run with the top closed.
Stock roll over protection is all that is needed.

However, you may want to get added protection with the BK extension (about 2") for piece of mind. And, if you like the track and want more, you'll find race seats that'll get you lower too. If you like going with instructors, you'll need to get him/her a seat like yours (for their safety). I used to be 6'3" and the combo of both bar and seat just barely got me to the broomstick.

good luck,
