Freshly Adopted 2008 Rules -- Tires

Post by Dave McGuigan » Tue Dec 04, 2007 4:19 pm

From Dan Thompson's column in the December Nugget:

9) Tire points Wear rating (wr)

wr >/=200=0 points
wr 200-101=25 points
wr 100-50=50 points
wr 49-0 = 100 points
full race slicks 175 points

Are these the time trial points? If so, what are the corresponding autocross values? Or do they apply to both now?

tire points are now the same for AX and TT Dave, so those are the values for 2008 AX tire selections.
wheel width points were also changed.

Harness Clarification

Post by pventuri » Tue Dec 04, 2007 5:36 pm

Would appreciate a clarification regarding new harness rules. Will FIA approved hybrid shoulder belts designed specifically for use with HANS devices (3inch into 2 inch shoulder belt) be allowed.

Thank you

Peter

so what will your points look like next year?

+25 for the RSA over what you had last season. no tire points

points for springs? Perches?

so are these new BFGs the hot SCCA street tire?

I may just show up with Falken Azenis Sport RT 615. O points for one of the best AX tires on the market. They rate their tire a 200 for treadwear. LOL!

Hmm then use 7" rims. Wonder where that would put my car?

Is that a typo?

"wr >/=200=0 points
wr 200-101=25 points"

shouldn't it be

wr >/=201=0 points
wr 200-101=25 points

I can see everyone running the Falken 615s as the 'cheater' tires.

Roger has finished most of the changes to the program and we are still working on getting all of the other things changed.

If you try to edit or reenter your cars now, they should come out properly with the new updates. :D

we are still running a few tests to make sure it comes out correctly, then we will broadcast the update and have everyone recheck or edit their cars if they don't look right.

we have also talked about dumping a bunch of the cars that are either multiples, dummies, or just not even participating on any level. that way the data base would more closely coincide with the actual numbers of folks showing up to participate.

one thing I really disagree with is only 10 points for wider wheels.. leaves you a stock class at only 10 points.. just another way of not letting stock cars drive in a stock class they have to compete with wider wheels

Depends on where you start with "stock". Two years ago, the 986S had 525 points base and I just went wider in front for 25 points and still stayed in stock AX11. Also, 10 points "could" push a car into the next bracket. But, do you mean the new classes of Street Stock? I don't know how that works.
