Why hasn't Dan asked for a summary regarding the recent DEC meeting? Tick... tick... tick...

Hi Dan,

The comprehensive proposal prepared by John Tavernetti and his team was approved by the DEC and, subsequently, by the Board. A couple of other minor proposals regarding car numbers and mandatory on-line classification also passed. There are a few additional details that need to be reviewed at Tuesday's Board meeting. Wayne should be making a formal announcement soon. I expect the full rules package to be posted sometime next week.

Where can I find a listing of the rules proposals? All I have been able to find is comments.

Will previously classed cars automatically be reclassified using the new rules? When will the online classing tool be updated to reflect the new rules?

Hi, I haven't checked this forum for a few days, so I aplogise for the late reply. Roger Haskin has been graciously building the revised points system on a his personal test server for us. I have seen it, tested it, and can report that it is almost finished. Just a few more days and it should be done, according to Roger. Once we have re-tested it and feel confident that it is accurate, he will replace the current "live" website with the new version and there will be a broadcast announcement to everyone on the usual GGR email lists giving you a link to the new classification site.

All existing cars are going to be deleted from the system. That means everyone will need to re-classify their car. While this unfortunately creates about 15 minutes of work for each person to re-class their car, it is unavoidable since many of the modification choices are either new or revised in such a way that it was impossible to simply translate the 2009 classified cars into the 2010 version without creating a bunch of innaccurate results. On the upside, one benefit of deleting all prexisting cars will be that all the "junk" entries will get cleared out too, making it easier for everyone to see who is actually in their class (rather than having to weed through 25 stale/fake entries to ID the real ones).

I will post again once the new website is up and running. Like I said, it should be in the next few days... but please be patient as Roger is doing all this work on a volunteer basis using his own personal equipement and know-how. It's no trivial task.

Thanks
JT

Thanks, John. I appreciate the amount of effort this must be taking.

Would it be possible to maintain a link to a copy of the existing car class information for a limited period of time to help remind us of our mods as we fill out the new form? I've got a copy of mine, but I suspect people would really appreciate being able to refer to the existing data as they fill out the new form.

Thanks.

Doug

I think a flyer should be sent out two weeks before
you make the class changes. I also got my information
after I found out that everything is going to be
removed.

That's a good idea guys. I'll see if I can get that taken care of via an email blast to everyone soon.

Yes. I'll keep the old database in its current state around for a while. Unfortunately you won't be able to copy your old information into the new database, you'll have to enter the form again.

Gentlemen -

Upon seeing Roger's announcement that the new classification system is in place, I went ahead and re-entered my car. In reference to the statement that all entries will be deleted, in order for me to re-enter my car's info, I needed to delete my car, and start over. Done. Thanks for everyone's hard work on this.

The 2010 classification site is athttp://comp.pca-ggr.org or http://comp.pca-ggr.org/classification. The old 2008/09 site is at http://comp.pca-ggr.org/rulcomm_cs. You may have encountered a direct link to the old site.

Thanks to everyone who helps develop, propose and implement the new rules for this year. I've re-classed my car with the new system and everything seems to work perfectly. One issue, I never seemed to receive the email blast letting me know to do it? I receive all of the clubs communications so I don't think it was filtered through my spam. One suggestion will be to send another club email if we don't see the number of cars being classed increase over the next couple weeks.
