Passenger Seat

Post by PAUL LARSON » Wed Aug 04, 2010 1:41 pm

I would like to see a rule about the passenger seat. If
I remove it, would this be considered a non stock
interior?
I run with a racing seat for the driver and take a hit for the modifing points.
Removing a 50lb seat should only help a little.

in reality, without a passenger seat your car should not pass tech....all cars are to have passenger seats for instruction at any time...
If a driver is having issues going off or spinning, an instructor can be required by Chief Steward/Racecontrol, CDI or the DE/TT Chair at any time.
There have been some special race cars given special dispensation on this over the years, but the bottom line is our rules used to require a passenger seat at all times..

from the current rule book :)

2.2T Driver's Education/Time Trials
a. To permit instruction, demonstration or supervision, all cars (instructors' included) must have a passenger seat with a restraint system at least equal to that of the driver's. The Driver's Education/Time Trial Chairperson is permitted to waive this rule on a case by case, seasonal basis at his/her discretion.

That's a good point Dan.

Thanks for looking up that rule.

With Club Racing and DE running together, I see the point.
