3M Clear Bra

Post by John Crittenden » Tue Sep 04, 2007 10:27 pm

I am about to buy a 2001 986 that recently had its hood and front bumper repainted and looks like new. Before subjecting this car to AX and DE use, however, I am thinking about getting a 3M clear bra installed. Any views on the pros and cons of this and recommendations of an installer, preferably in the Oakland area, would be most welcome! Porsche of Oakland recommended Lito of Special F/X, his price is around $600 for bumper, much of hood and fenders past the lights, and mirrors. Thanks.

John

I have this product on every car and it has saved the paint numerous times. These guys have come out to my house to put the film on. It's a tough job and I could not have done it myself.

Give them a call. They do home installations.

John,

This is a shop that does a lot of clear bra work, mostly on Porsches, although not in the East Bay:

International Auto Body & Paint
1172 Montgomery Ave
San Bruno, CA 94066
(650) 871-5453

Give Johnny a call and get a quote.

Good luck.

Well - let's see if they live up to their claim on their website:

"CS Specialties is dedicated to excellent customer service, and your satisfaction is a priority. We demonstrate our commitment of excellent service by responding to every fax, phone call and email we receive in a timely manner."

I called them about a week ago and never heard back.

...and he installed it today at my wife's workplace. Looks to be very good work (it was late when she got home - took 5 hours) If only it were a Porsche - instead it is her new Accura RL (which is a very nice and impressive handling car. Highly underrated and not selling well - a true bargain.)

Thanks for the updates. I had all of my cars done at home. Each one took a remarkably long time to do properly. I'm glad I did not start the project myself. My 996 has had its paint saved many times over by the protective film.

Hello John: I was thinking of the same putting Clear Bra on my car. Did you got the full Bra done or just the half or the full ? Hood,Both Fenders, F-Bumper, Head Lights, 2side mirriors, door edges and Gasoline cut out. ( Porsche dealer Quoted $675.00 Slightly on the F-Hood, Headlights, F-Bumper, slightly on the 2 F-Fenders, Mirriors, and door Hedge. Is it good idea ? Do you know How to Clean the convertable top ?
