Boxter with dead battery - how to open hood?

I just discovered my 2000 Boxter S has a discharged battery after not driving it for nearly 2 months. I went online and found the cigarette lighter trick[1] to power the hood latch but I keep blowing the 15amp blue fuse only by carefully connecting an external battery to it. I was going to remove the passenger tire well cover to manually pull the hood cable BUT the jack and nut wrench are also in the front trunk. How else can the hood be opened?

Art,

If you have the owner's manual (?), it will tell you how to do it. There is a "terminal" on the left side of the cabin near the fuse box that has a push in/out system. If you can't get to the cable method, you'll need to have a 'spare' battery to connect to the "terminal" and ground to be able to activate the electric front hood release. This was Porsche's work around for the glitch of having the hood and truck operate electrically.

I've always jumped power to fuse c3 iirc to power up the central alarm system to open the hood.

I use the cigarette lighter trick with a jerry rigged battery pack. It provided just enough juice to pop the trunk.
