Driver door window drop-down function-Boxster
have problem with window drop down feature (release) when door is opened. When the latch is pullled, window releases from the seal but pops right back up when the latch is released, so when the door is closed the window glass is still in the full up position and runs into the seal. Any ideas or suggestions?

The first thing to try (may be in the owners manual?) is to cycle your windows full up and down and hold the button down for 10 seconds at each position. It may require 2-3 cycles. The theory is that the system "re-learns" the up/down positions. May - or may not work.
I've had a glitchy drivers window for several months and never got around to doing anything and then, it started working again... so, I'm guessing a faulty connection.
The "mind" of the drop down feature is in the register control motor I believe. It's not cheap to have someone do it.... from $450 - $600.
Here's a link to Renntech. They have lots of discussions about things breaking. The link I'm sending you to is via their "search" engine.
Good luck,
kj

Re: Driver door window drop-down function-Boxster
I just bought the part for $115. I wanted to put it
in this weekend but it was to wet. It is a switch
in the latch mechanism that holds the door
closed. If you check the 997 DIY at Renntech,
I will post what I did. May be after christmas
until I do the work.
I found a neat way to close the door. You hold the outside latch up
just a little. Then you swing the door close releaseing the
latch when you are about 12 inches away.
